Wear and Tear

NOTE: As you use your knife day in and day out you will notice wear in the finish. Both on the blade and the handles (scales). This is normal for metal parts that have a coating on the metal. Over time the coating will wear in places (usually edges) down to the bare metal. This process of "wearing" has been described as a patina finish. With aluminum products, there is no need to be concerned about rust forming on the wear spots. In conclusion, many of you will remove your knife from your pocket several times a day… Your knife handles (scales) will show signs of wear as a result.

*TYPE III Hardcoat Anodizing color will vary 'slightly' from batch to batch, and there will be mottling present on some scales. We will do our best to ensure these variations are minimal.*

A muted blue-gray anodize. Slate Blue reads cool and clean without being loud, with a modern finish that pairs well with steel and titanium hardware.

Ditch the FRN. Unlock the Para 3 LW. The Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight is an EDC staple, but the factory fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handles don’t do justice to the legendary compression lock. Our CNC-machined aluminum scales replace the cheap feel of FRN with rigid, premium metal structure—giving you the solid feel of a standard Para 3 without ruining the lightweight design.

Machining for the Para 3 LW demands highly complex, tight-tolerance pocketing to correctly house the nested compression lock. Spyderco builds the knife with FRN scales over a thin internal liner; ours are linerless, so a precision phosphor bronze washer ships with every set to take that liner’s place. We machine the scales in-house from solid 6061-T6 aluminum billet so those internal geometries accommodate the dual-washer setup exactly. The result is a perfect drop-in fit, a dead-centered blade, and that signature drop-shut compression lock action right out of the box — all for 0.20 oz over stock.

Installation

For those new to the knife world, "scales" are the handle portion of the knife. This listing is for scales only, no knife is included. Purchase your Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight from an authorized retailer. An increasing number of clones (imitation knives) are being sold, so do your homework to confirm you aren't unknowingly buying a counterfeit knife. To disassemble you'll need T-6, T-8, and T-10 Torx drivers.

Get Rid of the Liner

The stock Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight comes with a liner. Our scales do NOT use the liner and, instead, utilize a second phosphor bronze washer (included). This improves the knife's action and removes an unnecessary component, assisting with blade centering and streamlining the scale installation process. Through aggressive pocketing and deleting the liner, we made Aimfront scales only .20 oz heavier than stock scales.
