Wear and Tear

NOTE: As you use your knife day in and day out you will notice wear in the finish. Both on the blade and the handles (scales). This is normal for metal parts that have a coating on the metal. Over time the coating will wear in places (usually edges) down to the bare metal. This process of "wearing" has been described as a patina finish. With aluminum products, there is no need to be concerned about rust forming on the wear spots. In conclusion, many of you will remove your knife from your pocket several times a day… Your knife handles (scales) will show signs of wear as a result.

*Cerakote is a ceramic-hardened coating — extremely durable but will eventually show edge wear with heavy use.*

The standard Para 3 ships with G10 scales over nested stainless steel liners — sturdy, but the G10 catches and adds bulk. Aimfront's aluminum scales swap the G10 over the existing liners — same skeletal frame, cleaner geometry, less catch in the pocket. Heavier than the LW by design since the steel liners stay.

Installation

For those new to the knife world, "scales" are the handle portion of the knife. This listing is for scales only, no knife is included. Purchase your Spyderco Para 3 from an authorized retailer. An increasing number of clones (imitation knives) are being sold, so do your homework to confirm you aren't unknowingly buying a counterfeit knife. To disassemble you'll need T-8 and T-10 Torx drivers.
