Benchmade Bugout 535 Knife Handle Scales
We are excited to introduce our line of aluminum scales for the Benchmade Bugout 535. It is important to mention that Benchmade makes a phenomenal knife and with that being said we, like others, like to modify our production knives. Of course, it is important to mention that when you “modify” a knife you may/may not void the manufactures warranty.
We purchased our Benchmade Bugouts because they are slim and lightweight. To preserve the original characteristics of the Bugout we have cored out as much material as possible, while still maintaining a robust set of scales. Aluminum was the obvious choice for material as it’s lightweight and durable. We chose Type III Hardcoat Anodize for the coating because it afforded the customer an ultra-durable coating while allowing us to maintain tight tolerances.
Assembly Information
For those new to the knife world, “scales” are the handle portion of the knife. This listing is for scales only, no knife is included. You can purchase a Benchmade Bugout at your local retailer or click HERE. We strongly suggest you purchase your Bugout from an authorized retailer. An increasing number of clones (imitation knives) are being sold, so make sure to do your homework to confirm you aren’t unknowingly buying a counterfeit knife. To disassemble your Benchmade 535 to install your new Aimfront scales you will need a T-6 and T-10 Torx driver which can be purchased HERE.? For video instructions detailing the installation procedure click HERE. If you are in need of a good quality oil we have had good luck with Nano-oil.

NOTE: As you use your knife day in and day out you will notice wear in the finish. Both on the blade and the handles (scales). This is normal for metal parts that have a coating on the metal. Over time the coating will wear in places (usually edges) down to the bare metal. This process of “wearing” has been described as a patina finish. With aluminum products, there is no need to be concerned about rust forming on the wear spots. In conclusion, many of you will be removing your knife from your pocket several times a day… Your knife handles (scales) will show signs of wear as a result.
For the coating, we chose Cerakote because it afforded the customer an ultra-durable coating while allowing for various color options. Check out this article that details Cerakotes’ coating characteristics. CERAKOTE will build up in holes more than on flat surfaces. As a result, the Pivot and Backspacers will be “snug” when assembling the knife.
